May 18, 2021 - Fun flight to St. Mary's Airport

We've had really great flying weather this May so far.  I was in my hangar getting the RV ready for the long cross-country starting Thursday.  Chuck was heading down to St. Marys and asked Mark and I if we wanted to join him.  Sure!  So in late afternoon we headed out.

Out over the Chesapeake Bay, heading south.

We vlew south in a lose V-formation.  The Chester River is in the background.

Passing by the Chesapeake Bay bridge with Annapolis and the Severn River in the background.

Crossing back over the Chesapeake Bay again, preparing to start our descent for St. Mary's Airport.

Looking southeast at Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

Looking down at St. Mary's Airport (2W6).  It was quite busy this afternoon.

We landed, Chuck's grandaughter hopped in his plane, and then we were airborne again heading south approaching the Potomac River.

Chuck's grandaughter getting to see what other planes look like in the air.

We did a little follow the leader on the southern side of the big Potomac River, then headed back to St. Mary's.

After dropping Chuck's grandaughter off, we are now heading back home in an extended left echelon.  The air was smooth as silk and we enjoyed a little tailwind.  The late afternoon sun was lighting everything up.

Looking down at Bay Bridge airport and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge again.

Going feet wet after Kent Island, we start our descent into Essex Skypark.  Fun flight.
